How Much is Our Coffee?

undated photo of Biff Henderson, Julia Roberts and David Letterman

There's a philosophy behind the way Salidumay Cafe prices its coffee.

First of all, Salidumay Cafe only brews Philippine coffee beans, and growing up in the Cordilleras it's only natural that I endorse coffee beans from the region.

Secondly, we do away with the middlemen or distributors. Distributors have their own overhead costs that tend to raise the price of roasted coffee beans.

Third, Salidumay Cafe is run by a cooperative (World Kitchen Workers Service Cooperative), making money is not our sole purpose.  Corporate Social Responsibility goes beyond donations and charity.

Lastly, I remember a segment by Biff Henderson on Late Night with David Letterman. Biff was at some inconspicuous coffee shop at a Midwest town chatting up an old cowboy...
Biff: How much is that coffee?
    Cowboy: 25 cents.
Biff: You want to see a trick how I can make that into a $2 coffee?
    Cowboy: K.
Biff sticks a "S_a_b_c_s" logo on the cowboys mug.

I can't sell our coffee for 25 cents but I'll try my best to keep it close to $1. P59-P69 range is just right.

Getting to Salidumay Cafe

Salidumay Cafe is located at 2-D CK Building No. 61 Visayas Ave., Vasra, Quezon City

Where?

Most people say Project 6, Visayas Avenue but that's a misnomer.

We're 2 kilometers away from Quezon City Hall and a skip-hop away from Visayas Avenue's famous landmarks:  SHELL, MONTEREY and CONSPIRACY.  We're right above Monterey.
